Memento

Memento consists of hundreds of paper transport tickets collected from Britain and its empire over the last 100 years. Many of the tickets were donated by the London Transport Museums archive. The colourful layered, tactile memories, allude to past and distant geographies, journeys travelled and personal history.

Memento was commissioned for and included in Mind the Map, (2012) a group exhibition at the London Transport Museum, Covent Garden, London. The exhibition explored the inspiration, history and creativity behind London transport maps. 

"Mind the Map: inspiring art, design and cartography draws on the Museum’s outstanding map collection to explore the themes of journeys, identity and publicity."  

The exhibition also included previously unseen historic material and exciting new artworks by other leading artists including Simon Patterson, Stephen Walter, Jeremy Wood, Claire Brewster, and Agnes Poitevin-Navarre.
