FLOOD - A Site Specific Intallation
FLOOD was commissioned by York Museums Trust for York St Mary's, a de-consecrated 13th century church. The piece was purposely sited in the alter area of the church, using the ceiling height and referencing the stained glass window behind. Flood was 8 metres high and built around a steel armature using 4 tons of recycled power supplies from discarded computers, which were generously lent by Secure IT Recycling in Cheshire. After the exhibition the components went back to be recycled. St Mary's is now run by the trust and has become York's main contemporary art space. Each year one installation is shown there running from May to November.
